18th August 2008
Windsurfing: Felixstowe-Dip
Wind Direction: SSW
Wind Stength:
Surf / Sea State: bumpy
Air Temperature: 19
Sea Temperature: 18
Weather: sunny
Max Speed: 25.2 (knots - unless stated otherwise)
Distance Covered:

Got on the water around 5:15 with 6m and was well powered up. Sea was quite messy then then the wind picked up and even after flattening the sail and using a smaller fin was almost overpowered until wind moderated and sea smoothed. It was a very low tide and with the sandbanks there was some lovely rolling swell. Got a bit tricky for a while sailing straight into short waves but coming in was great. Some great rides and even planing gybes off some of the waves!. I tried the spit but it was too shallow and water messy; best waves were off the dip when it's this shallow. On the water for 2:15hours with the only break to adjust the sail and lend Squiz a fin after he lost one on the shingle shallows. Paul. Ian, Jim, Squiz and a new guy out, and Tom learning fast in challenging conditions. Only sad bit was driving home with the headlights on - summer's drawing to a close but August is great so far.
